The Arena Lacrosse League East Power Rankings - Week 6
The Arena Lacrosse League East Power Rankings - Week 6.
1. Whitby Steelhawks (5-0)
Another week, and another victory in the books. A run of four goals in the second and fourth quarter kept the Steelhawks in the lead to stay. Will Johnston had another spectacular day in net, only yielding nine goals
2. Peterborough Timbermen (4-1)
Although the Timbermen fell behind early, they scratched and clawed all afternoon to get back in the game. In regulation they only had the lead for 0:26 seconds, but when it counts character teams find ways to win. Stone Jacobs was the hero on this day scoring in overtime for the Timbermen's victory.
3. Toronto Monarchs (3-2)
Toronto played quite well in this game. Another strong performance in net from Sam Haines allowed the Monarchs to jump out to a big lead. However, for a stretch in this game the offense struggled. This allowed the Timbermen back in the game. Ethan Robertson was superb down the stretch. Although they were beaten in overtime this week, this team will be a force when the playoffs come.
4. Six Nations Snipers (3-2)
Once again the Snipers controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a 5-1 lead. For a small stretch, they took their foot off the gas and Ohsweken mounted a comeback. In the second half the Snipers once again controlled the game. This team is getting more and more refined as the season goes along.
5. Paris RiverWolves (2-3)
The team keeps showing how resilient they are. After giving up a seven goal run, down 9-3 the team got to work. The RiverWolves dominated the fourth quarter, scoring six of the last seven goals to bring the game to overtime. At 1:11 of overtime, Kurtis Woodland completed the Paris comeback. Another gutsy performance from this group.
6. Brampton Express (2-3)
A game that they played well enough to win, Brampton dropped their second straight overtime match. Up by six goals, they let Paris back in the game with a couple of undisciplined penalties which led to power-play goals. Unfortunately they weren't able to get it back in gear in the fourth, and eventually succumbed in OT.
7. Oshawa Outlaws (1-4)
This team is so close to getting back to it's old identity, but just can't put 60:00 together. Two big runs sunk an otherwise strong performance. Luke Laskiewicz (4g,0a) and Jake Gilmour (3g,2a) had big games, but need help from the supporting cast to get the team moving back into the top four.
8. Ohsweken Bears (0-5)
Another rough day at the office. Down early, this team showed no quit fighting to get within a couple of goals. However, that was as close as they would get. Playing with a short bench didn't help.
