Shooting Eagles soar to fifth straight victory

A five-game winning streak finds the Shooting Eagles one victory away from clinching top spot.
The Shooting Eagles trailed by a goal in the latter stages of the third quarter before scoring six of the final eight goals to defeat the Black Fish 15-12. The teams were playing on Sunday afternoon in Arena Lacrosse League West Division action at Langley Events Centre with the win improving the Shooting Eagles to 8-4, good for first place, while the Black Fish sit in third place at 5-7.
The trio of Spencer Bromley (4+2), Coady Adamson (3+3) and Dylan Lacroix (3+2) led the way for the Shooting Eagles. Mark Yingling (1+3) and Dylan McIntosh (2+2) each notched four-point games. Nick Musso and Sam Clare rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Connor Nichols finished with 40 saves as the Shooting Eagles were outshot 52-41.
Brian Gillis (3+2) and Connor Watson (2+3) led the Black Fish with five points apiece while Graden Soucy (2+1), Chase McIntyre (2+1) and Reese Barnes (2+0) each scored twice. Steve McKinlay (1+1) had the other Black Fish goal. Dave Mather finished with 36 save in goal for the Black Fish.
Both teams are right back at it with midweek games for Week 13. The Black Fish (5-7) take on the Sea Spray (7-5) on Tuesday, February 21 while the Grizzlies (4-8) face the Shooting Eagles on Wednesday, February 22. Both games begin at 7:00pm at Langley Events Centre.
