ALL East Power Rankings - Week 5
Arena Lacrosse League East Power Rankings - Week 5.
1. Whitby Steelhawks (4-0)
This was the biggest test the Steelhawks faced so far this year. Champions find ways to win no matter what. Never trailing, Whitby kept pushing the pace all game long. Devin Pipher was the hero just 0:39 seconds into overtime to knock off the Express and stay undefeated on the season.
2. Toronto Monarchs (3-1)
Another week and another good showing for the Monarchs. A bit of a slow start had them play catch up to start, but a strong fourth quarter put this in the win column. Sam Haines had a strong game in net shutting the Snipers down all together in the fourth.
3. Peterborough Timbermen (3-1)
A sloppy last five minutes almost cost this team a strong overall outing. Undisciplined penalties while up 13-7, brought the Outlaws within one goal with a minute left. Goalie Ethan Robertson was stellar in the last minute, making a few big saves to secure the victory.
4. Six Nations Snipers (2-2)
Three solid quarters had them tied 11-11 with Toronto. The fourth quarter saw the Monarchs take charge due mostly to penalties. If the Snipers can stay disciplined, they will continue to have success this season.
5. Brampton Express (2-2)
A spirited affair against the Steelhawks showed just how much heart this group has. Never down by more than two goals all afternoon, this team fought back to tie the game six different times. The Express took eleven penalties in this game. If they can clean that statistic up, this team could go quite deep this season.
6. Paris RiverWolves (1-3)
The RiverWolves have been good enough to be 3-1 this year, but for a bounce or two going in their direction. Offensively Paris has been consistent all season. If their defense is as solid as one this game the rest of the year, they will make the league take notice.
7. Oshawa Outlaws (1-3)
The score was closer than the game was on this day. However, a good sign was the resilience the team showed. Taking full advantage of undisciplined play by the Timbermen, the Outlaws turned a mediocre game into a nail-biter. Down five late in the game, the Outlaws scored four unanswered goals to make it a one goal game. But for the goaltending of Ethan Robertson, Oshawa would've fully come back in this game. Once again the character of the team showed up, and will carry them up the rankings as the year goes on.
8. Ohsweken Bears (0-4)
This was a rough day at the office. The Ohsweken offense never got on track, while the defense couldn't contain a high octane RiverWolves offense for a lopsided defeat.
