ALL East Power Rankings - Week 11

by Gary Groob

A number of changes this week in the Arena Lacrosse League East Power Rankings  - Week 11.

1. Brampton Express (7-3)

Another convincing win this week against a very hot Paris team keeps the Express #1 in the rankings.  Brampton is peaking at the right time with the playoffs just around the corner.

2. Whitby Steelhawks (9-1)

After the small bump in the road last week, the Steelhawks put an exclamation point on this game.  A bit of a slow start, but once Whitby got rolling, they manhandled Ohsweken controlling huge chunks of the game.

3. Peterborough Timbermen (6-4)

The Timbermen needed to not only win, but win convincingly to get moving in the right direction.  Not only did they win convincingly, but they stopped the hottest team in the league in their tracks.  A convincing 21-11 victory over Paris showed that Peterborough is back in the hunt.

4. Paris RiverWolves (6-4)

A small setback for the RiverWolves have them drop one spot in the rankings.  Playing with a shortened bench didn't help their cause.  Next week they have their biggest test of the season facing the Whitby Steelhawks.   This will be must see lacrosse!

5. Toronto Monarchs (4-6)

Another tough week for the Monarchs against a white hot Brampton team.  Toronto ran into a hot goalie in Devlin Shanahan, who stopped 51 of 58 shots.  The Monarchs face the Oshawa Outlaws next week and will need to get their offense rolling if they hope to be victorious.

6. Oshawa Outlaws (4-6)

Although the Outlaws didn't have a good start, a strong second half, as well as great goaltending from Laine Hruska got them in the winner's circle.  Late heroics from John St. John gave the Outlaws the narrow 14-13 victory.

7. Six Nations Snipers (4-6)

A game that was in their grasp, the Snipers let slip away.  Good control in the first half didn't translate into the same for the second.   A defensive collapse in the third quarter gave the Outlaws enough life to grab the W late.

8. Ohsweken Bears (1-9)

Although the Bears have shown a lot of character, fighting game in and game out, they really were no match for Whitby.  Working without Craig Wende in net, the defense will need to step up and help the tandem of Josiah Laforme and Gavin Clarke in net.  The pair of goalies faced 76 shots in this game.
